Probate Fees to Increase

February 21, 2017

Probate Fees have been charged at a flat rate of £155 (the Court Application fees) but this is changing to a value based charge, depending on the value of the estate.

From the 1st May the application fee will depend upon the value of the estate:

Estate Worth
Application Fee
£50,000.00 – £300,000.00
£300.00
£300,000.00 – £500,000.00
£1,000.00
£500,000.00 – £1,000,000.00
£4,000.00
£1,000,000.00 – £1,600,000.00
£8,000.00
£1,600,000.00 – £2,000,000.00
£12,000.00
Over £2,000,000.00
£20,000.00

This is an increase for all estates, but for those worth over £300,000 is a substantial increase in cost.
