With Mediation, disputes can be resolved quickly and can be long lasting.
During Mediation, parties have the opportunity to meet with a trained independent third party, otherwise known as a Mediator, in order to talk through issues with the aim to resolve them. Such issues can include children arrangements, how your money, assets, home etc. are divided and so on.
A mediator will ensure that each party has the chance to voice their position and concerns and will then look at the options available. In order for both parties to be happy, the mediator will urge you to think through the different options, so that an acceptable agreement is reached.
There is no fixed length or number of sessions as this will depend on the situation. During sessions, the mediator will help you to reach an agreement, which is then written down in a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’. The agreements reached in Mediation can be made legally binding in court as long as both parties are happy.
Mediation offers support to anyone that has been affected by a family or relationship breakdown.
Mediation has resolved conflicts for many different people, all you have to be is open, honest and have your family’s best interests at heart.
If you feel that mediation can assist your family your legal advisor at Sheltons Solicitors can refer you to and other relevant parties to a local Mediator.

Family Law - When engaging Lisa it was a time when I needed assistance to round everything up and drive the process through. I found the way she approached the task was friendly and had empathy which is a rare quality. I would also say that Lisa was always on the ball and at every step gave me good advice with examples to refer to, which helped in dealing with sensitive issues as a task. I find her approachable, personable, confident in her ability to close out to the benefit of the client.
